Happy Feet

Yey! I saw Happy Feet! It’s such a cute movie. I especially like the baby penguins (is there a name for them?). Spoilers! Mumbo(?) (the protagonist) looked a bit odd though. A bit different from the rest, but I guess it just shows how different he really was and needed to look the part. The animation surprisingly shows more than penguins singing and dancing. There is discrimination and marginalization which I find timely with our philosophy class, but it was very evident in the movie. Love, as usual is also touched. I then remember the hero in our reading the romance class where the pattern of a hero was discussed. He came from a normal/average family, grew up simply, accompanied by “strong” companions who would help him along the way when he becomes weak, faced a battle/struggle/conflict and saves the day/return from the “dead.” It is true that no matter how many times you try to tweak the hero stories, they would bare down to their very simple structure. There was also the issue of environmentalism. Save the penguin! No fishing. It also shows how humanity (which if this is the word rightly used) really destroys the environment and it takes a while or something spectacular for people to realize this. Just like the issue with water shortage. Now, all the tips for saving water are once again springing back. Off and on. We (Marco and I) were arguing about it, about how I thought I might be an environmentalist and he, the opposite and we’d be fighting because I’d be three to save the environment and he’s destroying it. Haha! It also shows self-determination, courage, pride, indecision and pain. Wala lang. Marami lang talagang pumasok sa isip ko habang pinapanood ko yung pelikula na nakatutuwang isipin dahil naaalala ko at may natututunan na ako ngayon sa aking mga klase.

The econometrics quiz wasn’t that bad. I got the assumptions correct although the explanations were a bit off. We had fun watching Excalibur!!! Haha! It’s not as magical, ‘white’ and blindingly astonishing as some of the versions were. It showed the bare side of knighthood. It’s dark, bloody, dull and not exactly a happy life. What was funny with the movie was the actors themselves. Ang pangit mag-act! Or maybe this bias comes from watching the newer versions of it. Not to mention the actors were not as handsome as we imagined them to be. King Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin...strong, tall, strong handsome features, garbed in nice clothes. None of those. Next were the lines and antics of Merlin. Seryoso! Nakakatawa sobra.

Love is deaf as well as blind.
How would you know when you haven’t even tasted it? (kadiri si Merlin dito.)
...For it is the doom of man that they forget.

Oh yeah, then the time when one knight kissed Excalibur. May naisip lang akong line. Pero it’s kadiri haha! “I shall kiss your sword and you shall kiss mine.” Haha! Phallic symbols. Blame it all on literature. I know, yes, malapit na ako! Hahaha!

Then we had dev eco. Shit! Wah. I’m so gonna cut that class often...Grabe. For 1 and a half hour, we only got the definitions of economics and development economics, aside from Archimedes’ Principle and simple sentences, amongst others. Nakakabaliw yung klase niya!!!

Then I met up with Marco to watch Happy Feet. Hehe I had fun. Not a dull moment. Kwentuhan. Which is good! Then we went to the tiangge. Before I had to drag him, literally to stores but he himself volunteered to go there. Hihi. We ate at Heaven...’n Eggs (pronounced Mars’s style :p). Ang takaw. Before the movie, we ate fries (the one with cheese, garlic mayo and something else); one order each. After, we ate chicken, 2 servings of eggs (mine was scrambled), mashed potato and rice. Busog after. I couldn’t imagine a happier ending to my day. I love you Tubby!

Oh...nasira yung white sandals that I was wearing haha! Buti nasira after class. Pero hindi bumigay kaya I didn’t buy new slippers anymore. :D

Back to school blues!!!

Monday. My first class was international economics by, who else, the great Dumlao. Haha! I like! :p hahaha! Yeah, anyway, I arrived at the room and when I enetered I was like, “Am I in the right classroom?” Reason was, when I first saw the people, I didn’t recognize any of them! But phew, I finally saw Gen and was relieved. Same rules, same way of testing, nothing new in his class EXCEPT for the subject of course. *sigh*

4 hour break again! Same as last sem’s. Haha! Never changed. I was with Debs for a while and I made her kwento about stuff. And she was right. Hindi naman niya malalaman kung wala akong sasabihin.

Then I met up with shubaness and we had our ids validated and saw Anj. Went to starbucks and hmm...I think yun yung reason kung bakt sumakit tiyan natin hahaha! Ate at...kazuska?? Is that right? It was good though. But yun nga lang, masakit tiyan kaya di masyadong naenjoy hehe. And I ranted about you know who. Funny thing was, I realize new things as I was speaking. Masakit talaga. Mas lalong nagdoubt. Not a good thing but yeah.

Anyway, I had philo and wow, a lot of new classmates. Philo this sem would have a heavier load than before. Waaah! Documentary plus 2 orals. Huhuhu.

After class I met up with Dexie and we went to Starbucks. We saw Sean there and kwento kwento but Starbucks was hot and noisy so we moved to mcdo. I wasn’t that hungry so I just ate fries and drank coke.

Then. Creative writing, drama plays. 60 pages. Shit. But one thing good about him, masayahin and he had a number of quotable quotes! The thing is though...I can’t remember them na!! Basta may mga...

“Nagiiba ka kapag alam mong pinapanood ka.” Totoo diba? Pag nasa entablado ka na, ang pag-iisip mo, ang kilos mo nag-iiba. Somehow, you’re more conscious of what you’re doing.
“You never miss what you do not know.”
“What are we waiting for? Death. What are we looking for? Meaning.”
Pag walang hope, tapos na ang kwento, tapos na ang teatro, ang dula dahil ang mga aktor mismo nagpasya na tapos na.

Actor. Malalim. I like. But I don’t like writing a play and having it critiqued. Ako pa! Takot ako sa ganyan.

Today, I had econometrics and dev eco. Man oh man, I think he’s frustrated coz he didn’t get into show business.

“This just might hurt a little.
Love hurts sometimes when you do it right.
Don’t be afraid of a little bit of pain.
Pleasure is just on the other side.
Let down your guard just a little.” – Save Room by John Legend
